Pure Romanticism 2: Carl Frühling and Gustav Mahler
St. Nikolaaskerk, Dwingeloo
18 July at 20:15 hour
C. Frühling – Piano Quintet op. 30
G. Mahler – Piano Quartet in a
C. Frühling – Trio for clarinet, cello and piano op. 40
In the second concert, which has a romantic theme, Austria takes center stage. The Austrian composer Carl Frühling (1868–1937) remained largely unknown for a long time because many of his manuscripts were lost. Fortunately, his piano quintet and his trio for clarinet, cello, and piano have been preserved, and they show that he was an original and highly passionate composer. The piano quartet in a minor by Gustav Mahler, a contemporary and compatriot of Frühling, will also be performed.
Kunstzomer Dwingeloo arrangement: at 3:30 PM you will receive the open studio route at St. Nikolaaskerk, which you can visit at your own pace. Afterwards, you can enjoy dinner at 5:30 PM at Restaurant Onder de Eiken.
Tis concert is sponsored by Stichting Cultuurfonds Westerveld.
