Josef Suk (1874–1935) was a highly talented Czech composer and the son-in-law of Antonín Dvořák. He is less well known than Dvořák and other compatriots such as Smetana or Janáček, but that is undeserved! His Second String Quartet is his undisputed masterpiece, and in this program it is framed by his beautiful piano trio and piano quartet.
