The governors of the Spanish Netherlands in the seventeenth century were great lovers of the arts. Visitors to the court, including ambassadors and prelates, would often bring musicians and other artists with them, fostering an exchange of ideas. This concert presents that richness. It is worth noting that one of the harpsichords used is an exact replica of an instrument that was available at the court in Brussels.
