“Moonlit lyricism from the keyboard,” “a sublime sonic smoothness.”
Press and audiences around the world praise Sander Sittig’s poetic and personal piano playing, which has made him one of the most sought-after Dutch pianists. These very qualities have also established him as an outstanding chamber musician, prompting leading performers to invite him to join them for concerts and tours throughout Europe, North and South America, Japan, China, and Israel. He has performed, for example, with master violinist Shlomo Mintz in Shanghai, Istanbul, Geneva, and Madrid; with the renowned Russian violinist Pavel Berman in Jerusalem; and with Dutch Music Prize laureates Liza Ferschtman and Maria Milstein in numerous concerts in the Netherlands as well as in Brussels, Bratislava, and at festivals in Switzerland and Austria.
In addition, Sander Sittig appears frequently as a soloist on many stages. He has performed piano concertos with orchestras in the Netherlands, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Italy, and gives recitals both at home and abroad. His spoken introductions—often supported by visual elements—are especially appreciated by audiences.
Sander Sittig studied with Jan Wijn at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. While still a student, he was invited to make his debut as a soloist in Beethoven’s Fifth Piano Concerto at De Doelen in Rotterdam, and he made radio and television recordings. This was followed by distinctions at the Tromp Competition (Eindhoven) as well as at competitions in Épinal, Rome, and Palm Beach.
Sittig has made CD recordings as a soloist (including Mozart piano concertos and chamber music), with violinist Benjamin Scherer Quesada, and with the Incantatie Ensemble. This year, he can be heard in solo recitals in Amsterdam, Nantes, and Málaga; in concerts in Amsterdam and Milan with violinist Hawijch Elders; and in Zurich, Kaunas, Valencia, and Luxembourg with various chamber music ensembles. He also participates in summer festivals in Granada (Al-Andalus), Kloster Schöntal, and Zutphen (CelloWercken).
