Peter van der Zwaag

Peter van der Zwaag (*1986) received his first lessons at the age of eight from Jelle de Jong at the local music school. From 2003 onwards, he received private lessons from Theo Jellema. At the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen (NL) he studied organ with Theo Jellema and Erwin Wiersinga, and harpsichord with Johan Hofmann. In 2015 he received his Master of Music degree.
Peter has won several prizes at organ competitions, including a First Prize twice at the 6th and 7th International Organ Competition Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (2017 and 2019). He attended masterclasses with Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Wolfgang Zerer, Eric Lebrun, Guy Bovet and Ben van Oosten.
Peter is organist at the Salviuskerk in Dronrijp with an instrument by Bader (1657), the oldest organ in the province of Friesland. He is artistic advisor for the foundation ‘Organum Frisicum’ and chief editor of the Frisian Organ Magazine. Peter is also the owner of musicshop and publishing house ‘Boeijenga Music’.
