Lucien Renette

Lucien Renette (2003) began playing the violin at the age of eight. He took his first violin lessons at the music school in his hometown at the time, Gemert. Four years later, he was admitted to the Young Musicians Academy at the Conservatory of Tilburg, after which he continued his studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Tjeerd Top. Since 2024, he has also been studying with Vera Beths.

Lucien has been giving numerous concerts throughout the Netherlands as a chamber musician and soloist since the age of twelve. In 2020, he founded the Otilka Quartet with three friends, which has since become a permanent ensemble regularly performing on various stages. They have also appeared on several radio and television broadcasts, where they performed works by Ravel, Tchaikovsky, and a world premiere by Hans Henkemans, among others.

From 2018 to 2020, he was active as first violinist and section leader of the Jeugd Orkest Nederland, and in 2022 he became concertmaster of the VU Orchestra. With the VU Orchestra, he has taken part in major projects, such as performing Puccini’s La Bohème at Koninklijk Theater Carré with the Nederlandse Reisopera, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with the Nederlands Concertkoor. In 2024, he performed once again with the VU Orchestra in a sold-out Concertgebouw, this time as solo violinist in a performance of Strauss’s Ein Heldenleben. During the 2024 summer tour, he also appeared as soloist in performances of Rudi Stephan’s Music for Violin and Orchestra, including at a sold-out Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ and in several concert halls in France and Germany.
