Stefano Bruno

Stefano Bruno (2000, Italy) is a laureate of numerous international competitions. At the age of 18, he won the gold medal and the grand prize at the VIII International “David Popper” Cello Competition in Hungary. In 2022, he won first prize at the National Cello Competition. Stefano studied at the Conservatorium van Foggia in Italy. He continued his studies with Giovanni Gnocchi in Bologna and with Francesco Dillon and Paolo Bonomini in Fiesole. In recent years, Stefano Bruno studied at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Giovanni Sollima and at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the class of Pieter Wispelwey. He graduated summa cum laude from both institutions.

In 2022, he made his debut at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, performing both a solo recital in the Kleine Zaal (Recital Hall) and Cello Concerto in E minor by Edward Elgar in the Grote Zaal (Main Hall), conducted by Ed Spanjaard.

Stefano is passionate about chamber music. He is a member of the Trio Eidos (piano trio), the Duo Greci-Bruno (violin and cello duo), Ensemble Opificio Sonoro (contemporary music ensemble), and regularly gives cello and piano recitals with Daniël Kramer.
