Silhouet Kwartet
The Silhouet Quartet is a young and promising Dutch string quartet based in The Hague. The ensemble is praised for its energetic stage presence and wide-ranging repertoire.
The quartet was founded in 2021 at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen and is currently continuing its development at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where they are coached by Janet Krause. In addition to their joint quartet studies, all four members are pursuing their individual bachelor’s degrees. For the past two years, the quartet has also received valuable coaching from the renowned Cuarteto Casals.
The Silhouet Quartet has further drawn inspiration from masterclasses with distinguished ensembles such as the Artemis Quartett, Alma Quartet, and Ruysdael Quartet, as well as internationally acclaimed musicians including Clive Brown, Pieter Wispelwey, and Angelika Merkle.
What began as a friendship based on a shared passion for string quartet playing has grown into an ensemble that performs regularly throughout the Netherlands, as well as in Germany and France. They have appeared at festivals such as the Festival Musique de Chambre Normandie, Aurora Festival, the Chamber Music Festival Groningen, and the Zeister Muziekdagen.
In 2024, the quartet was affiliated with Jeunesse Musicale as scholarship students and took part in the prestigious International Chamber Music Campus in Weikersheim. From September 2025, the Silhouet Quartet will be part of the Dutch String Quartet Academy (NSKA), under the coaching of Marc Danel. Their activities are partly made possible through financial support from the Kersjes Fonds.
