Leonard Besseling

Leonard is a cellist and cultural entrepreneur. His artistic heart beats faster when constantly searching for new ways to bring classical music to new audiences and to combine it with other art forms. As a cellist, Leonard is also affiliated with Trio 258 and performs frequently with ensembles such as Camerata RCO, Vrienden van de Kamermuziek, the Nederlands Kamerorkest, and Le Cercle de l’Harmonie.

Together with filmmaker Gijs Besseling, he created several music documentaries for television and served as presenter of the YouTube series Roadtrip la Bohème about opera composer Giacomo Puccini. In 2018, the series became part of a nationwide concert tour by Club Classique.

Leonard plays a cello built by his father, Matthieu Besseling, a violin maker based in Amsterdam.
