Maria du Toit and Vera Kooper met in 2021 and, after a successful debut during the Day of Romantic Music in Rotterdam, decided to continue their collaboration. They toured the country as Duo du Toit-Kooper with She/Her — a program featuring music composed by women. They decided to record this program, and the duo’s debut album was released in 2024 under the Channel Classics label. The album immediately made a strong impact both nationally and internationally and, in addition to receiving many positive reviews, was highlighted as CD of the Week on Dutch and German radio stations. Notable performances included the Spiegelzaal of the Concertgebouw, the 8Night of Music in Budapest (Hungary), and an extensive tour through South Africa, with concerts and masterclasses in cities such as Stellenbosch, Pretoria, and Johannesburg.
