M. Ravel – Miroirs

M. Ravel – Histoires naturelles

R. Vaughan Williams – Strijkkwartet nr. 1

Maurice Ravel was born 150 years ago. Alongside Claude Debussy, he became one of the greatest and most renowned French composers. Although Ravel’s musical style is distinctly French, music from other countries had at least as much influence on his compositions. From birth, he developed a love for Spanish music due to his mother’s Basque heritage.

Ravel created a colorful and almost fairytale-like musical style. His fascination with the exotic, ancient French music, and the sound world of his colleague Claude Debussy is clearly reflected in his work.

In addition to the brilliant Miroirs for piano and the witty songs from Histoires naturelles, the program also features the beautiful First String Quartet by his student Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Before the concert, you can enjoy dinner at restaurant De Heeren van Harinxma on Landgoed Lauswolt. This package begins at 5:00 PM.
